Books of condolences open in memory of Adam Kirwan at Mary Immaculate College

Book of Condolences opened at Mary I in Limerick and Tipperary

A vase of daffodils, some candles and a picture of Adam Kirwan poignantly sit on the same table as a book of condolences that has opened at the third-level college where the young Laois man was a student.

The Mountrath native was just a first-year student in the Thurles campus of the Limerick / Tipperary Mary Immaculate College where his sporting talents had already helped them win silverware this year.

The College issued a statement on his passing in a car accident in Tipperary town on March 2.

"It was with great sadness that Mary Immaculate Colleg (MIC) students, and staff, learnt of the death of Adam Kirwan, a first-year BA Education, Gaeilge & Religious Studies student in MIC Thurles.

"Adam, as a valued member of the MIC community, will be deeply missed.

"A book of condolence has been opened in MIC Thurles’ and MIC Limerick’s main receptions. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, classmates and lecturers at this very sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis," said the statement.

It is just a few short weeks since the same college was celebrating Adam's success with Mary I in the Ryan Cup Colleges Hurling Final.
