Laois council outdoor staff praised

Laois County Council offices

The council’s prompt response to a badly damaged road was praised at a recent meeting.

The issue arose when Senior Executive Engineer Philip McVeigh read a progress report at the last Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District meeting.

The progress report sets out all of the work carried out by council teams in the area since the previous meeting.

Cllr Padraig Fleming praised the council staff for their work and said in particular he wanted to highlight one incident earlier in the year.

Cllr Fleming explained that he had been alerted to some serious pot holes at a location over a bank holiday weekend.

“There was a few serious potholes out at Lanigan’s Lock where a car hit a tyre and was damaged etc. A video was sent to me and basically I sent it to you,” he told Mr McVeigh.

“You had it filled by ten o’clock the next morning. I want to compliment you on the response,” said Cllr Fleming.
