St Fiacc’s FC has been given the green light for a major upgrade of its facilities.

Laois County Council granted permission for two new astroturf pitches, a new clubhouse and new flood lighting for the club in Monure, Graiguecullen.

The application was supported by Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Sean Fleming.

“This is a local soccer club which provides great services in the community for both the players and the supporting families and friends of the community alike.

Can you please look on this application favourably with a view to approving same. I look forward to hearing from you on this matter,” Minister Fleming wrote in his submission to the council.

The Committee of St. Fiacc’s FC had applied for planning permission in January. Approval was granted on Monday subject to 18 conditions.

Along with the new clubhouse, pitches and lighting, the plan also provides for associated car parking, new boundary fencing and an upgrade of the existing entrance.
