A Laois man who is a garda in Kildare has played a vital role in ensuring a mum gave birth safely on the road to Dublin in recent days.
Timahoe native Garda Richard Oxley joined with Garda Sean Smyth from Naas Garda Station in responded to a call for help from a couple travelling along the M7.
Gardaí outlined what happend: "The pregnant woman’s contractions were now a minute apart. Both Gardaí kicked into action and just as the ambulance arrived, the woman gave birth to a healthy baby. MORE BELOW PICTURES.
A Garda statement added: "We are thrilled to know that this little family are now doing well, and baby is taking it all in after an exciting trip into the world!
"Our appreciation to Garda Oxley and Garda Smyth in Naas for their skill and dedication to keeping people safe."
