Laois Ladies footballers hoping to keep promotion hopes alive

Match Preview

Laois Ladies footballers hoping to keep promotion hopes alive

Donie Brennan and his Laois Ladies side will be hoping their promotion hopes remain intact when they face Cavan on Sunday March 19.

Laois come into the game off a three-week break since their last outing where they suffered their second defeat of the league campaign against the unbeaten Armagh. Their campaign to date has been promising with three wins from their five league matches. Their other defeat coming to Westmeath, who were playing in the Senior Football Championship last year.

The big news coming out of the camp this week was that Erone Fitzpatrick will be heading to Australia to play Aussie Rules, a massive blow for the Laois team. Erone was instrumental in helping Brennan's side claim the Intermediate All-Ireland Championship in 2022. It remains to be seen how Laois will fare without her, but they'll be hoping she can push the side towards promotion to Division 1 football next year.

The game takes place Sunday March 19 in Crettyard at 2pm.
