A New York native is among the amazing young women hoping to be selected as the 2023 Laois Rose this weekend.
Portlaoise teacher Sinead Dowd is sponsored by Turley's Bar in Mountmellick.
"My name is Sinead Dowd and I live in Cullohill. I was born and reared in New York.
"Both my parents are Irish, and I have one brother and one sister. My biggest achievement to date would have to be making the solo move to Ireland at the age of 16. I would not be the person I am today if not for this.
"I am an English and Geography teacher in Scoil Chríost Rí, Portlaoise.
"I have recently started coaching the school’s basketball team. One goal for the future is to travel the world and experience different cultures.
"Fun fact, I ironically Irish danced for 15 years in America, and have not danced since moving to Ireland," she said.
Sinead might surprise everyone and get dancing again on stage at the Midlands Park Hotel this Easter Sunday night, April 9, for the glamorous and fun Laois Rose Selection Night.
Tickets are €25 and will be available on the evening so get there early. Doors open at 7pm and show starts at 7.30pm sharp.
See this week's Leinster Express for profiles of all 17 Laois Rose Entrants.
