The Laois County Library Service and Decade of Centenaries want to hear from Laois people who are close relatives of those directly impacted by the Civil War in Laois.

All local authorities will nominate a limited number of relatives to attend a formal ceremony for what's being called a "a healing moment of reconciliation" that aims to remember everyone who lost their lives in the Civil War.

This outdoor event, being hosted by the Department of the Taoiseach, will take place in the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin on Sunday, May 28.

Those interested are advised to email localstudies@laoiscoco.ie  or phone 057 8664000 indicating their interest and outlining their connection to an individual(s) directly impacted by the Civil War from Laois.

The deadline for receipt of expressions of interest is Tuesday, May 2 at 5pm. The memorial event will be televised.
