Portlaoise's traders and business people are being invited to leave the car at home and opt for peddle power as part of National Bike Week.

The Downtown Portlaoise group invites its members to cycle to work on Wednesday, May 17 to arrive and meet at Market Square at the bike stands at 8.45 am sharp in order to get to work and open your business on time.

Complimentary tea or coffee will be served in The Pantry.

If you don't have a bike Downtown is encouraging people to borrow one from family or friends for one day to support this  national effort to increase cycling.

"You never know you might just leave the car at home again in the future," say the traders.

National Bike Week runs from May 14 to 21. Bike Week Laois is co-ordinated by Laois County Council’s Sport & Leisure Office  Contact sports@laoiscoco.ie or phone 057 8664058
