A one year road ban was given to a learner driver who was caught driving unaccompanied without L plates.

Danielle Marie O’Shea, 31, with an address at 30 Clonroosk View, Portlaoise was stopped on the N80 in Derrycloney, Portlaoise  on October 28, 2022.

Garda John O’Keeffe said the defendant was in a VW Passat and was unaccompanied and had no L plates up. He said a fine was issued but went unpaid. He said the defendant, who wasn’t in court, had eight previous convictions, all road traffic related.

Judge Andrew Cody fined the woman €350 and disqualified her from driving for a year for being unaccompanied. He imposed a €350 fine and a one year ban for not having L plates displayed.
