Laois and Offaly had to settle for a share of the spoils on Saturday evening as an inspired comeback from Offaly saw them rectify a six-point deficit with only two minutes of regulation time remaining.

The result actually leaves Laois in a good position to qualify from the group as one of the best third-placed teams providing they can defeat London in two weeks' time.

Laois manager Billy Sheehan spoke after the game of the disappointment of them not being able to see out the win.

"You're six points up with 68 minutes gone, it's a game of five minutes and we managed to throw it away. So that's basically where it's at.

Offaly didn't hit their first wide until the half-hour mark in which time Laois had already racked up six wides. Laois were creating the scoring chances meanwhile Offaly were taking every chance they got which in turn shows how dominant Laois were all over the field for the first-half.

"We had 40% shooting in the first-half, I think we had eight wides and two shots dropped short. Second-half, we had another two dropped short and eight wides. I think they had good opportunities in the second-half, they won a free from the kick-off and had two goal opportunities. In saying that, their 1-3 at the end, in all cases we were inside their 45' and we managed to turnover the ball on every occasion.

Sheehan didn't let the disappointment override the fact that his players came out and done a good job on Offaly and played the better football for the majority of the contest.

"We're on the floor. We prepared for the game last week and we were very disappointed with a few things that happened during the game. A lot people write them off thinking we were coming here for a turkey shoot tonight and that Offaly were going to give us a bit of a trimming. These boys, I've always said are good players but in saying that we had the game in our hands and you saw what happened.", Sheehan said post-match.

Laois finish off their Tailteann Cup campaign against London in two weeks' time played a neutral venue with the venue not yet known at this time.
