Urgent work is needed at a farm near Camross where heavy vehicles are at risk due to collapsing tarmac.
That was the warning flagged by Cllr James Kelly, Independent, at a meeting with officials in County Hall.
He tabled a motion calling on the Council, as a "matter of urgency", to carry out road safety works on the narrow road adjacent to Dowlings farm at Derrycarrow, Camross.
He added that the road is very narrow and the road verge is now meeting an open drain causing the tarmac to collapse.
“It could be a serious issue when a couple of heavy vehicles meet,” he said.
He believed piping may be sufficient to make it safe.
Edmond Kenny, District Engineer, replied in writing.
“Laois County Council staff will arrange to meet with Cllr Kelly at the site to assess the need for safety improvement works,” he said.
The issue was raised at the May meeting of the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District.
