A man agreed to forfeit possessions including over €1,000 and personal items to the State.
The matter arose during a court police property application relating to Ashley Brennan, of 10 St Enda’s Road, Terenure, Dublin 6, who Portlaoise District Court heard was in Thailand.
Garda Erica Sweetman said the man was in Thailand but she had been in phone contact and had communicated with him online. The items had been seized on April 24, 2020.
“He no longer has any interest in this property,” she told the court.
“He signed a disclaimer notice in respect of this,” she said.
Garda Sweetman said the property included a number of personal items, watches, hoovers and €1,190 in cash.
She requested that some of the items which might contain sensitive information relating to the man be destroyed.
Judge Andrew Cody granted the application. He ordered the destruction of the personal items and said the other goods should be forfeited to the State for disposal.
Judge Cody said the cash should be donated to Laois Domestic Violence Service.
