A councillor has appealed to Laois County Council to fix paths in a Cullhohill for the Electric Picnic-backed festival called The Folly in July.
Cllr Ollie Clooney, Independent, made the appeal after tabling a motion at a meeting calling on the council upgrade the village footpaths to ensure the festival goers are safe on the streets.
Cllr Clooney said it would be appreciated if it could be done for The Folly Festival.
“They have a great festival lined up and hopefully a large crowd will come and we don't want them falling on the footpaths,” he said.
Edmond Kenny, District Engineer, replied in writing.
“Pavement condition surveys will be undertaken on the footpath and repairs will be undertaken where defects are identified,” he said.
He added that Cllr Clooney’s request to have the repairs completed by the festival would be considered.
The south Laois community's gender-balanced music, comedy and culture festival takes place around Cullohill Castle on July 7 and 8. The headline singer is Lyra.
The Folly Festival is organised by the Cullohill Community Council with the support of Electric Picnic, Laois Partnership Company and Laois County Council. It raises funds for local facilities.
The issue was raised by Cllr Clooney at the May 2023 meeting of the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District
