A major strike action is starting at 8am on Tuesday morning affecting Laois fire service as well as others around Ireland.
Retained Fire Fighters are striking with their SIPTU union to demand radical changes to pay and working conditions. Read more below.
From Tuesday, June 13, four out of eight Laois stations will be shut, except for life threatening emergencies. The remaining four stations will have to cover the areas of shut stations.
The closures will change each day for 24 hours. If there is no resolution in a week, all eight stations will shut but for life threatening situations.
The following is the timetable.
Tuesday, June 13: CLOSED: Rathdowney, Portarlington, Portlaoise, Abbeyleix. OPEN: Stradbally, Mountmellick, Durrow, Mountrath.
Wednesday, June 14: CLOSED: Stradbally, Mountmellick, Durrow, Mountrath. OPEN: Rathdowney, Portarlington, Portlaoise, Abbeyleix.
Thursday, June 15: CLOSED: Rathdowney, Portarlington, Portlaoise, Abbeyleix. OPEN: Stradbally, Mountmellick, Durrow, Mountrath.
Friday, June 16: CLOSED: Stradbally, Mountmellick, Durrow, Mountrath. OPEN: Rathdowney, Portarlington, Portlaoise, Abbeyleix.
Saturday, June 17: CLOSED: Rathdowney, Portarlington, Portlaoise, Abbeyleix. OPEN: Stradbally, Mountmellick, Durrow, Mountrath.
Sunday, June 18: CLOSED: Stradbally, Mountmellick, Durrow, Mountrath. OPEN: Rathdowney, Portarlington, Portlaoise, Abbeyleix.
Monday, June 19: CLOSED: Rathdowney, Portarlington, Portlaoise, Abbeyleix. OPEN: Stradbally, Mountmellick, Durrow, Mountrath.
