A clan rooted in Laois set to gather in July for its annual celebration.

The annual Lalor/ O'Leathlobhair Clan Rally is being held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 7,8 and 9 at the Manor Hotel, Abbeyleix.

The organisers welcome clan members to the event.

"If you are a Lalor, Lawler or Lawlor come long and learn the history of your clan which has an ancient lineage and heritage stretching back into the mists of time. Anyone of the name is welcome to join the clan and full details will be available from officers during the event.

"It is a great opportunity to learn the clan history and details of some of the most outstanding members of the clan who have impacted the history of Ireland, America, Australia and Spain just to mention a few," they say.

The organisers say enrolled members can have a vote in the election of the chieftain which takes place every AGM and the incumbent holds the office for 12 months.
