Gardai issue appeal after man stabbed in Laois town

Woman appears in court after kicking Garda in crotch in station in the Midlands

Gardai are appealing for information in relation to a stabbing in Mountmellick at the weekend. 

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital following the stabbing that occurred in Irishtown at around 8.30pm on Friday.

Gardai described the incident as  “an altercation between two males and one male received a number of puncture wounds.”

They said the man received injuries to his head and body and was taken to hospital but released later that night. Gardai said they are following a line of enquiry in relation to the incident. 

Gardai are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage from the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardai in Mountmellick or call Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 867 4100.
