The weather hasn't been a friend of the Ballinakill pool this 'summer'.

Are you already running out of summer activities to do with the kids? Looking for a summer camp with a difference? Don’t want to face the long drive to the beach?

While the July weather hasn't been a friend, then Ballinakill Outdoor Swimming Pool committee say they have the solution for you!

Recently, rated by the Irish Times as one of the top 10 great outdoor swimming pools of Ireland, with its 25-degree waters, the 25-meter outdoor pool in Ballinakill boasts a shallow and deep end, a paddling pool and round-the-clock lifeguards.

The pool offers four sessions a day at 2pm, 3:30pm, 5pm and 6pm, seven days a week and also offers two Sensory Hours on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 1pm and two adult only sessions on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 1pm.

While you’re visiting, the pool committee suggests you make the most of your day in Ballinakill by making use of the newly built playground Amenity Park beside the pool.

You can also take a walk along the wonderful looped woodland trails and visit the stunning Heywood gardens.

"All making a day out in Ballinakill a fantastic option for families this summer," says the committee.

The Ballinakill Outdoor Swimming Pool Committee, a sub-committee of Ballinakill Community Development Association, works voluntarily to maintain the pool for locals and visitors.

With the unsettled weather of late, unfortunately, they are experiencing a distinct lull in visitors to the pool this summer so they are hoping people can look past the weather and make the most of the facility.
