A Judge sought a bar licensing map for the National Ploughing Championships so every house and cowshed in Ratheniska wasn’t granted a drinks licence.
Judge Andrew Cody was dealing with an application in the name of Mary Byrne of the Clanard Court Hotel for a bar licence at this year’s National Ploughing Championships.
He noted the application was for the townland of Ratheniska and would cover every house and cowshed in the area in its present form.
A solicitor for the applicant said he didn’t have a map highlighting exactly where the bar would be located.
“It does need to be limited to a premises of some description,” said Judge Cody.
The solicitor returned with a map highlighting the four bar areas at the Ratheniska site.
“The allocation of the bar isn’t marked yet,” he said. He explained that the ploughing organisers allocate the bars to four operators but they haven’t decided who was where yet.
“I am going to grant it subject to the map being marked,” said Judge Cody.
He adjourned the application to August 3 for the production of a map with the bar to be licensed highlighted.
