Laois County Council has alerted the people of Ballinkill and motorists who drive through the town that road works will necessitate the main road through the town to shut for a day.
The local authority has issued a notice advising the public of its intention and decision to close the R432 through Ballinakill.
The road will be closed from unction with L-5732 (52.873103152472126, -7.30727215088574) to junction with (53.054538, -7.307002).
The road will be closed on and/or between 8 am and midnight on Friday, August 18. The Council says the work closure is needed for the purposes of road surfacing works.
A diversionary route around Ballinakill, which is part of the Portlaoise Municipal District, is outlined by the council below.
