Laois Senior Hurling relegation final preview and prediction

Laois Senior Hurling relegation final preview and prediction

This evening will see Borris-Kilcotton and The Harps clash in the senior relegation final with the loser dropping into the Premier Intermediate grade for 2024.

The Harps come into the final having lost three games out of three in the group with their opening game loss to Rosenallis proving detrimental in the grand scheme of things. Rosenallis qualified in third place with their only two points coming in the win over The Harps. They subsequently lost to Clough-Ballacolla and Rathdowney-Errill in their other two games.]

Meanwhile, Borris-Kilcotton ended their campaign with victory over the table-toppers of Group B Camross. The game in itself meant nothing on paper as Camross had secured their semi-final place while Borris-Kilcotton were destined for the relegation final. That doesn't take away from the fact that Borris-Kilcotton put it up to Camross and inflicted their first defeat of the campaign. It was Borris-Kilcotton's second round game which defined their fate as they lost out to Castletown, who ended up finishing third due to having a superior head-to-head record.

In terms of tonight's game, both sides know it's do or die as a bad performance will see them drop down while the winners will end their championship campaign knowing that their safety is secure. Ciaran Comerford and PJ Scully have lit up the championship with them being their side's top scorers. It could be a case of whoever top scores tonight will see their side over the line. Apart from Comerford and Scully, both sides have plenty more influential players the likes of Aaron Dunphy, Stephen Dunphy, Jer Quinlan, James Duggan and Cathal Murphy to name a few.

Borris-Kilcotton and The Harps will throw-in at 7.15pm in the LOETB Centre of Excellence. Prediction: Borris-Kilcotton
