Clonaslee St Manman's defeat Colt to take their place in Junior 'C' Football final

Clonaslee St Manman's defeat Colt to take their place in Junior 'C' Football final

Clonaslee-St Manman's are through to the final of the Junior 'C' Football Championship, after a comprehensive win over Colt in the Centre of Excellence on Tuesday evening. They will meet Arles-Kilcruise in the decider, who beat O'Dempsey's last week.

Clonaslee-St Manman's 1-14

Colt 0-9

Clonaslee-St Manman's got off to a fine start with Daire Hogan opening the scoring from a placed ball before Tom Smith raised a green flag in the fifth minute when his left-footed shot looped over Padraig Dunne in the Colt goal.

But Colt came back strong, scoring five points without reply, including three frees from Nathan Dunne, in a commanding 15-minute period midway through the half. They played well, and controlled possession and territory, but failed to build a big score.

Clonaslee-St Manman's finished the half well though, kicking three unanswered points in as many minutes. Scores from Peter Foynes, Buster Dunne and Joe McRedmond gave their side a two-point lead at the interval, 1-4 to 0-5.

Colt opened the scoring early in the second half, but Clonaslee dominated from there. They kicked five points without reply, including three great scores from Buster Dunne. Dunne was excellent for Clonaslee, especially in the second half, but he ended the game on a sour note, however, going down with what looked like a nasty achilles injury.

Ger Doolin scored a wonderful point for Colt before Clonaslee-St Manman's once again scored five on the bounce. Joe McRedmond was the star of this little spell, slotting three lovely scores to make it a ten-point game.

Cian Moffit landed a pair of frees for Colt in the dying embers of the game, but the day belonged to Clonaslee-St Manman's.
