Dunamaise Arts Centre set the town ablaze on Culture Night as they celebrated their new brand and website with a plethora of free events for all to enjoy.
The new season of events was also celebrated on the night and will feature a fantastic selection of entertainment for all tastes to illuminate the darker evenings over the next few months.
Audiences were reeling as they enjoyed a fantastic night on September 22 that included the Irish premiere of new compositions by NOTIFY with guests Séamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta. Also there was painter Paddy Critchley’s exhibition opening and a workshop with artist Greg Hallahan.
Culture night also featured a live DJ set with DJ Steegan and Portlaoise Musical Society and a visit by nationally renowned Influencer and TV personality MC Fitzpatrick.
Also launched on the night was Dunamaise Arts Centre’s fantastic new branding; designed by Penhouse in Ratheniska; featuring its new signature ‘d’ with its unique and vibrant ombré colour effect; which was inspired by the heritage and stonework designs on the building.
The revamped www.Dunamaise.ie was also officially launched on the night.
Designed with accessibility in mind, the website; designed by Path Strategic Design in Dublin; allows for easier navigation, with lots more new and improved functionality for its users.
On the new website, the autumn winter 2023 schedule of events (that also runs into the new year), simply and beautifully displays the fabulous events on offer with more being added on a daily basis.
Don’t miss the inimitable Michael Harding who visits with his new book in hand; a riveting selection of cultural films including the Sinead O’Connor documentary ‘Nothing Compares’ and Are you there God, it’s Me Margaret’ and a mesmerizing play The Perfect Immigrant that comes to Portlaoise after a sold-out run at The New Theatre, Dublin Fringe Festival 2022.
AIMS award-winning Portlaoise Musial Society present their 24th production with the fabulous West-End hit, based on a true story of the Ford workers that changed history for women in Made in Dagenham and musical theatre and film audiences can also look forward to a screening of The Rocky Horror Show to get in the mood for Halloween!
Christmas will be off to a great start with the lively ABBA Forever and the sumptuous music of Phil Coulter – two great options for Christmas parties!
The highly-renowned and award-winning Mikel Murfi brings his brand new play The Mysterious Case of Kitsy Rainey in the New Year which will be rang in by the hilarious Pat and Faye Shortt, back due to popular demand, who will have audiences in stitches.
The autumn season will also feature events as part of Laois Connects and Leaves Festival of Writing and Music.
