Are you passionate about your community and looking for an opportunity to make a lasting impact?

If so the People First Credit Union invites all enthusiastic individuals over 18 to our upcoming volunteer drive in Laois.

The People First Credit Union, which covers Portlaoise, Athy, Abbeyleix, Stradbally and surrounding areas, explained what's involved.

"We believe in the power of community and the importance of local involvement. We're on the lookout for dedicated volunteers to join our Board and Committees.

"By becoming a part of our team, you can not only contribute to your community's well-being but also unlock numerous personal and professional development opportunities. Meetings are held both virtually and in person to accommodate all lifestyles," they say.

People First also outlined why people should volunteer with People First Credit Union.

They say getting involved can also help with personal development.

"Volunteering with our Credit Union is a unique chance to expand your horizons and develop new skills. Whether it's financial expertise, leadership, or communication, serving on our Board or Committees can be a rewarding journey of growth," it said.

Another reason is helping to strengthen your community.

"As a volunteer, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the financial services and initiatives that directly impact your neighbours and friends. Be the change-maker your community needs," they said.

Finally, they say it can help boost your career and CV.

"Serving on a Credit Union Board or Committee is a valuable addition to your CV. Employers often recognize and appreciate the leadership, teamwork, and financial acumen gained through volunteer service, which can open doors to new career opportunities," said a statement.

People First add: "Don't miss this chance to learn more about how you can be a part of People First Credit Union's mission to empower our community."

If you can't attend the event, you can register your interest to volunteer at www.peoplefirstcu.ie/about-us/volunteering

People First hopes you can make it to the event on Tuesday, October 24 at 7pm, in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel

"Let's work together to create a brighter future for People First Credit Union," concludes the appeal.
