The Laois Yearbook featuring photos, interviews and a round-up of the news in 2023 is on the shelves across Co Laois right now.
Produced by the Leinster Express team in Portlaoise, this unique publication features everything from national achievements to super food and drink, special sports features and lots of pictures from around the county.
The Laois Yearbook 2023 is packed full of entertaining reading for our readers at home and abroad.
“The stories in this publication showcase the very best of the people and places in the O'Moore County," promised Acting Editor, Conor Ganly.
He continued: "This magazine is an exceptional publication boasting original articles of the highest standard written by reporters Lynda Kiernan, Eoghan MacConnell and Gavin Cooper. It also features great content from a host of local contributors and photographers.”
He said the publication has also benefited from the work of the commercial team in The Leinster Express with support from the Iconic Media Group’s production hub in Portlaoise.
“The Yearbook features stories about the victory of Abbeyleix in Tidy Towns competition and coverage of the opening of the landmark Portlaoise Library.
“It includes an exceptional feature called Taste Table. We've collaborated with Laois Taste to give a snapshot of some of the best of Laois food producers. In the same vein we have a report from the award-winning Ballykilcavan Brewery.”
Local organisations feature strongly with contributions from Laois Chamber Alliance, Laois Tourism and Laois Volunteer Centre amongst others.
Laois County Council's work on the heritage and climate fronts is also highlighted.
There's also space for arts and entertainment and we have a special feature from Camross Comhaltas which celebrated its 50th year in 2023.
There's lots from the Ploughing including an interview with Anna May McHugh in Ratheniska.
From a sporting perspective, we've got coverage of the Laois senior hurling and football championships.
There's also a special feature with Laois sports legend Pat Critchley from the launch of his new book ‘A Coaching Way’.
Mr Ganly concluded: "We hope you enjoy and treasure the new Laois Yearbook 2023!"
