The Laois sod was given a good strong turn this week, right up into the sky, to hail the start of construction of 26 new council homes.
Laois County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Paschal McEvoy had the honour of wielding the spade, to announce the houses coming to Carraig Glas, Stradbally.
They are described by the local authority as a "key part of the Council's programme to deliver over 534 new social homes in County Laois from 2022 to 2026".
"One of the main objectives of Housing For All is the creation of sustainable communities. This development and these homes will play a vital part in enhancing and sustaining the village community of Stradbally," they say.
The development will have two 4 bedroom houses, seven with 3 bedrooms, 10 with two bedrooms and seven single bedroom homes. They will be delivered by Laois County Council working in partnership with CN Construction and Van Dijk Architects.
