Borris-Kilcotton is a successful Laois GAA club
Traffic calming is needed to slow traffic at a crossroads near Kilcotton GAA club which is used by several local groups.
That was the appeal made by Cllr James Kelly, Independent, at a meeting with Laois County Council in Portlaoise.
He tabled a motion calling on the council to install traffic calming measures as a matter of urgency at the L1612/15613 junction Knockaroo cross near Knockaroo Church Kilcotton GAA grounds which he said is used by several local clubs and organisations.
He said it is also a pick-up point for school buses which makes the road even busier.
He was backed by Cllr John King, Fine Gael.
Edmond Kenny, District Engineer, replied that Laois County Council would arrange to meet Cllr Kelly at the site to examine the safety concerns.
The issue was highlighted at a recent meeting of the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District.
