An Attanagh road used when traffic restrictions were in place in Durrow has become ‘very rough’ and should be repaired by Laois County Council, a public representative has insisted.
Cllr Ollie Clooney, Independent, made the appeal at a recent meeting with officials in County Hall Portlaoise.
He tabled a motion calling on the local authority to re-surface the road from Ballynafunsion to Attanagh. Cllr Clooney said the road was used by the local authority when Durrow was bypassed for works.
“It needs to be done and done soon as it has become very rough,” he said.
Cllr Clooney said Attanagh is a lovely village and deserves assistance on this matter.
Edmond Kenny, Senior Executive Engineer, replied in writing.
“This road will be considered as part of 2024 roads programme having regard to the thee year programme previously agreed with members,” he said.
The issue was raised at the Borris-in-Ossory Moutmellick Municipal District meeting.
