Fifteen businesses across Laois have been approved for the Green for Business scheme which offers a range of supports to help companies become more sustainable.
The programme is run by the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) and it is designed to enable small businesses across the country to become more efficient and productive.
It is a necessary requirement for businesses to undertake in order to avail of the Energy Efficiency Grant, as it helps to identify potential projects that can be undertaken to reduce energy usage and make businesses more efficient.
Nationally 553 businesses were approved for the Green for Business scheme last year, according to figures provided through a parliamentary question by Green party TD Marc Ó Cathasaigh.
In response Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Neale Richmond said the 2023 target for the Green for Business scheme had been set at 550 approvals nationally which was achieved.
