Today FM DJ set for Laois talk in Portlaoise

Louise Cantillon to share her experience and expertise with students and parents

Today FM presenter Louise Cantillon will be in Laois in April as the guest speaker at a meeting in Portlaoise to help students and parents on Leaving Cert and going to college.

People First Credit Union welcomes the TV and radio presenter from Limerick to town for the Student Information Evening in the Killeshin Hotel.

Louise hosts Today FM's flagship lunchtime show and is a familiar face on TG4, known for her roles in the annual Junior Eurovision and TG4 Travel Series Téasc Taistil.

Additionally, she hosts the successful bilingual podcast "HOW TO GAEL" with TG4 colleagues Doireann Ní Ghlacáin agus Síomha Ní Ruairc.

She is a a former secondary school teacher, Louise holds a B.Ed in PE and Gaeilge, which the Credit Union says allows her to bring a unique perspective to her journey from education to a thriving media career.

Carol Murphy, Marketing Manager, People First Credit Union, will also speak at the meeting. She will share her expertise and in-depth knowledge of the costs involved in financing third-level education, student loan options, and details about the People First Scholarship Award.

Donnchadh O'Mahony is a Leaving Cert Guidance Counsellor and Podcast Host will also be there. The qualified career guidance counsellor has deep understanding of the world of work, learning, courses, colleges, and universities. He is also host of the popular podcast and insta page @LeavingCertGuidance.

Cian Power is a Student Budgetary Advisor and a former National Taskforce Member on Youth Mental Health. A University College Student Advisor with a Masters in Public Health, he will share his expertise in educational supports, funding for college life, and discussions on SUSI Grant Funding, coping with college life, securing college accommodation, and avoiding fraud.

People First says the free event is aimed at parents and students in 5th and 6th years.

"This event is designed to provide crucial insights into financial planning, navigating SUSI funding, and making informed career choices as students and parents transition to college life," they say.

It takes place on Thursday, April 4 at 7pm at The Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise, Co. Laois
