Laois auctioneer reaches €20m in new house sales since start of year

A Portarlington based auctioneer, who has had €20 million in new house sales since the start of the year, said he has never seen anything like the current demand for new housing in Laois in his 40 years in business.

Matt Dunne is currently selling two new housing estates Clonroosk Abbey Portlaoise (45 houses) and Cushina Avenue Portarlington (71 houses). CONTINUE READING BELOW PHOTO

"Clonroosk Abbey built by Kingscroft Developments Ltd was originally started in 2005/2006. During the boom, we sold c. 100 but as sales slowed down to a trickle during the recession the site was eventually “mothballed” for better times. Post Covid the site reopened and the final phase of this 180-house estate is being constructed," explained Matt.

"Beautiful two storey partial red brick, and maintenance free houses are spacious 3 and 4 bed.The latter 1 438 sq. ft has proven very popular with prices from €370k. There is a choice of3 bed semis c. 1200 sq. ft from €330k. Hurry, there are only 8 houses left, and viewing isstrictly by appointment."

Cushina Avenue built by Dunkeel Ltd, Carrickmacross, Co, Monaghan is anotherdevelopment Matt is selling situated on the Edenderry Road a short stroll fromPortarlington town centre.

"Phase One comprising of 26 houses mostly 3 bed semis sold out in a matter of weeks where prices started at €315,000," he said.

"Young first-time buyers currently residing in Kildare and Dublin can’t believe the value for money. i.e. a large 106 sq. m 3 bed semi for only €315,000. They are also very impressed with the towns’ excellent rail service i.e. 36 trains to and from Dublin daily and proximity to the M7."

Phase 2 of Cushina Avenue will be launched in June and Matt advises all interested partiesto register at info@mattdunne.ie or 05786 23349. The next phase will comprise of 2 & 3beds and some 4-bed detached. The 3 bed Show houses will open to the public in Mid-June and will be well advertised.

"What’s really Interesting is the underline reason for people buying at present is the “crazy rents” they have to pay and they now realise buying their own house is actually cheaper than renting," added Matt.

Appointments to see any of these developments can be made 7 days a week via their office info@mattdune.ie or 05786 23349.
