Willie Aird, Fine Gael candidate in Portlaoise electoral area

What are your priorities?
I have a clear vision for the future of our area, one that is built on prosperity, sustainability and inclusivity for all.
My priorities include urban and rural regeneration and development, increased investment for job creation, housing, infrastructure and services in our area, as well as enhancement of disability services, and youth and recreation facilities.

What is the biggest issue facing your area?

A major issue for our area is ensuring that we provide adequate and timely services and infrastructure to meet the needs of all sectors of our growing community.

Why do you think you would make a good County Councillor?

As a longstanding member of Laois County Council, I have been committed to steadfastly representing the interests and views of people in the Portlaoise Electoral Area and I have a proven track record of delivery. Accessibility and accountability are the cornerstones of effective representation and I have always made it my priority to be available to hear people’s concerns.

I have been a tireless advocate of finding solutions for issues related to planning, housing, employment, anti-social behaviour, roads and transport, health, education and recreation facilities. If re-elected I will continue to use my extensive political experience to continue to lead change for the better for our community.

I am an experienced, enthusiastic and determined Councillor who is acutely aware of the key issues of concern in the Portlaoise Electoral Area and if re-elected I will use my strong and determined voice on Laois County Council.

Willie Aird is a candidate in the Portlaoise Municipal District where seven councillors will be elected. In the lead up to polling day on June 7 we will be featuring profiles on all 47 candidates vying for a seat on Laois County Council.
