NINTH COUNT RESULT - Laois local election Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick #LE24

Count is on to win seats in Laois County Council County Hall in Portlaoise.

Four candidates have been elected in the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District on the 10th count which also concludes counting in the district.

The elimination of Brian Phelan resulted in Paddy Buggy, Fianna Fáil, reaching 1753 exceeding the quota by 41 votes.

As there was just one candidate other candidate left in the field, the Return Officer Donal Brennan declared three other candidates elected without reaching the quota as follows: John King, Fine Gael, Ollie Clooney, non-party, and Seamús McDonald, Fianna Fáil.

All outgoing councillors were returned. Paddy Buggy was the last man standing.

  • Kelly, James - non-party 1740 ELECTED
  • Bergin, Conor - FG 1712 ELECTED
  • Bracken, Paddy - Fianna Fáil - 1753 (+133) ELECTED
  • Buggy, Paddy - Fine Gael - 11284 (+71)
  • Clooney, Ollie- Non-party - 1650 (+126) ELECTED
  • King, John - Fine Gael - 1711 (+36) ELECTED
  • Seamús McDonald - Fianna Fáil - 11460 (+95)

Total valid poll: 11,979.  Number of candidates: 15.  Seats - 6. Quota - 1,712
