Anna May McHugh launches the Expo in Laois County Council HQ with some of the many exhibitors attending the event.
Laois County Council's 'Age Friendly Laois' and 'Healthy Laois Initiative' have been shortlisted for a national Age Friendly Recognition and achievement award.
These initiatives fall under Laois's 'Live Well' Expo, which took place at Portlaoise College last April.
This is the largest health and wellbeing expo in the Midlands, with Healthy Laois and Age Friendly Laois say Live Well celebrates the range of supports and services in Laois to help people improve their own health and wellbeing.
The expo attracted over a thousand locals to the event, and was launched by 'Queen of the Plough' Anna May McHugh, who told the crowd that "age is only a number". Over 100 stands were in place, from a variety of clubs and groups around Laois.
The Live Well Expo will be competing with 31 other applicants in the communications category.
Presentations to the judging panel will take place on Friday September 20 at Laois County Council offices, with the awards ceremony due to take place on November 7 in Dublin.
