Laois charity issue warning over bogus scam accounts

The Laois Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals have warned people to be aware of bogus accounts.

A fake profile has been found on WhatsApp impersonating the charity, reaching out to owners of lost pets.

The phone number has offered to attempt to locate the missing animals using a drone, for a fee.

"We have received a report that an unknown phone number has contacted someone offering drone services to locate their missing pet for a fee," Laois SPCA said.

"They are using the Laois SPCA logo as their WhatsApp picture. We will not contact you offering any paid services and would recommend not engaging and blocking this phone number," they finished.
