Farm Hazardous Waste Collection in Laois

The collection will take place on Wednesday, October 16 at Ballinakill Mart (R32X857) from 9am to 5pm. 

A  Farm Hazardous Waste Collection is being held in Laois as part of the very first Climate Action Festival in the county. 
The collection is being run by Laois County Council in conjunction with Irish Farm Film Producers' Group (IFFPG) Farm Plastics Recycling Centres 2024. 


The local authority has issued advice to those wishing to attend: "Hazardous waste will be unloaded before farm plastics. Ensure that waste is loaded and transported accordingly. Each waste type must be segregated, clearly identifiable and transported in a safe manner. Mixed waste and unidentifiable waste will not be accepted. Waste engine and hydraulic oils should not be mixed with any other substances. "All needles and syringes to be delivered to the centres in a separate sealed container." 

Herd number or equivalent is required and any queries can be directed to pesticideregisters@agriculture.gov.ie or call 01 6157552. 

The hazardous waste types that can be collected include waste oil, oil filters/oil drums. corrosives, break fluid, coolant, grease, adhesives and aerosols. Persistent organic pollutant, pesticides and biocides (including wood preservatives, rodenticides, veterinary medicines: doses, dips, wormers, dry tubes, needles and syringes, glass bottles of injectable medicines. Waste paint (hazardous).

The collection will take place on Wednesday, October 16 at Ballinakill Mart (R32X857) from 9am to 5pm.
