Gardaí have seized a car and issued a number of fines for speeding in Portlaoise.
Laois Roads Policing Unit conducted a speed checkpoint on the Stradbally Road in Portlaoise on Wednesday.
“A number of fixed charge notices were issued to drivers including the driver of this vehicle detected travelling at a speed of 88kph in a 50kph zone,” gardaí said next to an image of a VW Polo.
“The driver was arrested after they were discovered to be serving a penalty point disqualification. This driver has been charged to appear in Portlaoise District Court later this month and the vehicle has been seized,” they stated.
Meanwhile, another driver was arrested by gardaí on the M7 motorway in Laois.
Gardaí said the driver was disqualified and will now be brought before Portlaoise District Court.
