Heywood Community School celebrates brilliant Junior Cert results

On Wednesday October 9, Junior Certificate students across the country received their results.

The day was full of mixed emotions and anticipation, yet Junior Cert students at Heywood Community School in Ballinakill were delighted with excellent results.

Principal Mr Eamon Jackman commended the Junior Cert class, now in Transition Year and fifth year, on their achievements.

"It was a fantastic day here on Wednesday, with 144 students receiving their Junior Cert results," said Mr Jackman.

"The students saw excellent results for their hard work and effort. The school received particularly high results in science, technology, engineering and maths," he said.

"These students were dysregulated by the Covid-19 pandemic as they moved on from primary into secondary. This was an issue for all schools, and yet our students still managed to find their feet, and must be commended for their fantastic work ethic and how they applied themselves," Mr Jackman praised.

"The way that these students balanced their extracurricular activities with their studies is commendable, they found the balance and succeeded very well.

"The results are also thanks to the hard work and diligence of staff, who are a credit to the school," Mr Jackman finished.

Heywood Community School are currently practising for their upcoming November musical, ‘Thank you for the Music’, an ABBA based performance.

The school saw two fifth year students participate in the Junk Kouture final in Dublin's RDS this month.
