Waterford-based chef.
One of Ireland’s best-known chefs will take to the stage in Mountrath next month to help raise funds for the Class of 1990 Restoration Project.
Paul Flynn of the Tannery Restaurant and Cookery School, Dungarvan will bring his celebrated cookery Demo to the stage at Bloom HQ - the old Brigidine Convent, Mountrath - on Wednesday, November 13 at 8pm. The celebrity chef, restaurateur, cookery school owner and teacher, TV presenter, writer and personality will showcase mouth watering recipe ideas and plenty of hints and tips in advance of the festive season.
There will also be the opportunity for a little early Christmas shopping with a pop-up Christmas market featuring incredible food, craft and gift stalls from 7pm. Refreshments, including mince pies and hot drinks, will also be available, and there will be a monster raffle on the night.
The Christmas Cookery Demo is organised by the Class of 1990 Restoration Project, a group of past pupils fundraising to help out with the restoration and repurposing of the old Brigidine Convent. In total, the former pupils have raised in the region of €10,000 for the building through events such as table quizzes and last year’s hugely successful cookery demonstration by Celeb Chef Edward Hayden.
The money raised has so far helped to convert a former dormitory corridor into new music and meeting rooms, and will go towards a planned makeover for the convent gardens which will save the historic yew trees and also provide an outdoor space to be enjoyed by the community.
Paul Flynn co-owns the Tannery Restaurant and Townhouse in Co. Waterford with his wife, Máire. He is a regular on Irish and international television with numerous successful shows, including Lords and Ladles and Paul Flynn’s Food Truck Favourites.
Paul served two stints as cookery writer for the Irish Time and continues to write occasional pieces for publication. He has written several cookbooks, his latest Butter Boy was published by Nine Bean Rows Books in September 2023.
Tickets for the night include refreshments and cost €27.50. They are available from Telfords and Centra in Mountrath, and on Eventbrite HERE
Doors open at 7pm and ALL profits go to the Class of 1990 Restoration Fund.
