Kilcotton GAA grounds
Kilcotton GAA club, one half of the 2024 Laois intermediate hurling champion Borris Kilcotton team, is going to get more parking at their club grounds.
Cllr Conor Bergin asked Laois County Council to cut away a grass verge and replace it with gravel, outside the grounds in Knockaroo, Borris-in-Ossory.
“Well done to Borris Kilcotton. People are parking on the grass verge, if you can remove it. Both clubs are thriving and parking is an issue. I am anxious to have it done,” he said.
Cllr John King seconded, adding “hard luck to Rathdowney” who lost the senior hurling final to Clough Ballacolla.
“Parking is becoming a major problem at all GAA grounds, there’s three and four cars in every house now,” he added.
Cllr Ollie Clooney commiserated with Ballinakill, noting both sides have “a few great hurlers”.
“It’s great to see rural clubs taking part and being successful,” he said.
