Polling Station on the Square in Rathdowney
Laois General Election voters in Rathdowney have perhaps the most colourfully inspiring welcome to their Polling Station.
The town's Polling Station is located in the Parochial Hall on the Square. It's decorated with a mural which features farming, and sporting scene as well as a fist grasping a paintbrush carries the message Stronger Together.
The community mural was unveiled to the public in 2021 as part of the Culture Night celebration.
The artwork celebrates the people and spirit of Rathdowney. It was designed and created by Portarlington-based mural artist ADW. MORE BELOW PICTURE.

It was commissioned by the Laois Arts Office in consultation with members of the Rathdowney community via The Walls Project, a creative arts agency that specialises in the delivery of large scale public and private commissioned artwork across Ireland and Europe.
While the mural might be inspirational, the turnout isn't matching its message with voting not high in the town on polling day in the 2024 General Election.
