Laois singer releases new Christmas song in aid of Simon homeless charity

Durrow folk rock singer songwriter Davie Furey is set to release his latest single “Christmas Eve” on the December 3, 2024 across all streaming platforms, raising proceeds and awareness for The Simon Communities of Ireland.

Recorded in Jealoustown Studios, Co. Meath with Producer and Musician, Stuart Gray (Royseven), Davie Furey on vocals and acoustic guitar, Stuart Gray on guitars and keys, and Michael Kerr (The Whistlin’ Donkeys) on the fiddle.

Davie Furey explained: "I’ve written a couple of Christmas themed songs over the years but have never released any of them or included them on my albums. “Christmas Eve” was written in about 20 minutes and recorded in a day at Jealoustown with Stuart.

"As soon as I wrote it, I needed to record it as quickly as possible…some songs are just impatient, I guess. For me, this is a song of reflection and gratitude, whilst also being aware that this time of the year can be very difficult for people.

"All proceeds of the single will be donated to The Simon Communities of Ireland and the great work they do in supporting people facing homelessness across the country."
