Laois Public Participation Network (PPN) held its 2024 Year End Meeting in the enchanting Roundwood House, nestled in the Slieve Bloom Mountains. The gathering of Laois PPN Secretariat and staff was a
celebration of a remarkable year for the community network.
Key highlights from the year included the election of 17 Community Representatives to important Policy-Making Boards and Committees, Laois PPN’s Climate Action Project which was a calendar of events to support Community Groups with positive Climate Actions, and the rollout of the Property Marker which is a Crime Prevention initiative.
Community Groups are at the heart of the PPN, with community groups from every town
and village in the county registered with Laois PPN. Membership has flourished, with 700
groups now part of Laois PPN, who recognise the many benefits of being a member.
The exceptional contributions of Community Groups and Volunteers were recognised at the
Laois Community and Voluntary Awards, organised by Laois County Council and Laois PPN.
Laois PPN wish to acknowledge the generous support of People First Credit Union for the
Community and Voluntary Awards.
Dan Bergin Laois PPN Co-Ordinator said: "Significantly, this year marked a milestone in the
history of PPNs as we celebrated the 10th anniversary of our establishment on a national
level. Thank you to the Gingerbread Patisserie for the cake that marked the occasion.
"Laois PPN look forward to supporting the Community Groups of Laois in 2025 and beyond. Laois
PPN wish all our Community Member Groups a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year."
Laois PPN consists of 700 Member Groups from the Community, Social Inclusion and Environmental
Pillars. All groups registered with Laois PPN are given the opportunity to attend Laois PPN events.
