Music Development Officer Rosa Flannery
A new year is seen by many as a good time to set ourselves new goals for the next twelve months. That might include taking up a new hobby or learning a new skill. Rosa Flannery is Music Development Officer with Music Generation Laois. She said Music Generation Laois' New Year's resolution is to continue their work in providing access to music education across the county in an inclusive way.
"We will continue to apply for funding to enable us to subsidise costs to take part in music programmes. We will provide musical instruments. We will programme music concerts and festivals to provide subsidised opportunities for the people of Laois to access live music.
In 2025, our Isle of Song project, a Shared Island Songwriting project with children from Laois, Offaly and across Northern Ireland, will be a special highlight.
"We will work with a songwriter in residence, BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year Ríoghnach Connolly, to create 12 original songs to be showcased in Stendhal Festival in Limavady in June and in the Dunamaise Arts Centre in Portlaoise in September.
We look forward to another year of great music!"
