Some roads are in dangerous icy conditions
A Montessori school in Laois has called on the council to salt the roads as "they are in a very bad way".
Kilminchy School House in Portlaoise posted on Facebook earlier today, warning parents and anyone else walking the nearby roads to "exercise extreme caution" as the footpaths could still be extremely icy.
The post reads,
“DEAR PARENTS ( CAUTION NEEDED)
“Please note that the junction into the Grenville Estate off the Dublin Rd, may still be icy. Please exercise extreme caution.
“We cleared and salted the road and path again from above our entrance down to the junction as best we could last night. It is much improved today.
“We also wrote to the Council last night to Please grit/ salt the roads. Don't understand WHY NONE of the access roads from the estates onto the main roads are not salted.
“Kilminchy estate is in a very bad way, due to the gradients, slopes, bends of the roads.
“Many parents, including Hospital staff, need us open so they can go to work and the safety of all our community and staff is paramount.
“Appreciate any assistance over the coming days. Thank you.”
