Laois Civil Defense have been on hand for the community during the recent cold snap, helping those who need it most as the temperatures plummet.

In a post on Facebook, the Civil Defense is reminding those who may need assistance that they are available to help out where possible.

The post reads,

"Laois Civil Defence volunteers have been active since Sunday morning providing assistance to the HSE Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise, HSE public and pallitive health services and An Garda Síochána Laois/Offaly with 4x4 transports of staff, patient discharges and home visits.

"A thanks also to Offaly Civil Defence, Kildare Civil Defence and Kilkenny Civil Defence with assistance on some of the work over the last 3 days."
