Irish Farmer's Association (IFA) President, Laois man Francie Gorman, has returned to work following the removal of a pancreatic tumour.

Mr Gorman has taken some time to recover from his recent surgery, involving the removal of a tumour from his pancreas.

The IFA President was happy to report that the tumour was not cancerous.

The farmer had attended the IFA AGM in February, which was his last official function before he stepped away to recuperate. Mr Gorman revealed that he had the surgery in late March, and received the news that the tumour was not cancerous two weeks ago.

The beef and sheep farmer was first elected to head the IFA in December 2023, and took up the Chair in January 2024.

This morning, Mr Gorman met with French ambassador to Ireland on the EU Mercosur trade agreement. This has been his first appearance since his health scare.

It has been a memorable year for the Ballinakill farmer, who was awarded a civic reception by Laois County Council in November to honour his many achievements.
