The Portlaoise RFC U-14 team with JS Ryan Freight Ltd., Castletown, who provided the team with half-zips
The Portlaoise RFC U14 boys team recently returned from an exciting weekend of rugby and fun after travelling to Wales for a two-day rugby festival. With just under 40 players, coaches, and parents making the journey, the boys enjoyed a jam-packed weekend at the renowned Bethesda Rugby Club in North Wales.
The team set sail on Friday and dove straight into an action-filled weekend, during which they tested their rugby skills, forged new friendships, and created unforgettable memories. With plenty of excitement throughout, the trip was an incredible experience for all involved.
A special mention goes to the generous sponsors who ensured the team was kitted out in top-quality gear for the trip. JS Ryan Freight Ltd., Castletown, Co. Laois, provided the team with stylish zipper tops, perfect for warm-ups and off-field activities. Neala Keating of Sherry Fitzgerald Hyland Keating, Portlaoise, supplied vibrant, custom-designed jerseys that made the boys stand out on the pitch, while Shane Reilly of Shane Reilly Building Services generously donated gear bags, ensuring the players had everything they needed to stay organised over the weekend.
These thoughtful contributions from local businesses highlighted the strong community spirit of Portlaoise RFC. The boys proudly wore their new gear as they took on teams from across Wales and beyond, showcasing the generosity and support of their sponsors.

The rugby festival offered a fantastic opportunity for the young players to challenge themselves and improve their skills, while also taking in the cultural sights and sounds of Wales. The trip was not just about rugby, it was about building memories, making lasting connections, and strengthening the bonds between players, coaches, and families.
Portlaoise RFC has long been known for its strong community values, and this trip served as another shining example of how the club, along with its sponsors, parents, and supporters, works together to create a nurturing and exciting environment for its players.
