Abbeyleix Tidy Towns is delighted to announce the return of its No Mow May Pollinator Lawn Art Competition 2025 and is urging local people to get involved!
They say the community competition is part of the Abbeyleix Pollinator Project and supports the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan, helping raise awareness about the decline of pollinators and the importance of creating biodiverse environments in gardens.
"After last year's fantastic turnout, we are back again to celebrate creativity, community spirit, and, most importantly, biodiversity," says the group, which took home the 2024 National Tidy Towns Award to Laois.
So, how does it work? MORE BELOW PICTURE.

The aim is to at least some of your lawn grow uncut by letting it grow naturally throughout May.
The next step is to mow creative pathways or pollinator designs. You can shape your lawn into beautiful patterns, shapes, or designs, while helping wildflowers bloom and creating a vital habitat for pollinators.
️Last year, saw some amazing designs like hearts, butterflies and summer swirls from participants, including Scoil Mhuire students.
"We're expecting even more incredible entries this year," said Abbeyleix Tidy Towns.
How to enter?
After letting your lawn grow and creating your design, submit a clear photo of your lawn art and a short caption about your inspiration to the Abbeyleix Tidy Towns Facebook or Instagram pages.
