Laois will look to keep their unbeaten run going and book a place in the Leinster Minor Hurling Championship semi-finals when they host Wexford in Laois Hire O’Moore Park.
Momentum is firmly behind Glen McEvoy’s Laois side after they dismantled Offaly in last weekend’s preliminary quarter-final in Portlaoise. Laois racked up an astonishing 7-23 to 0-13 win, with Daniel Jones bagging a hat-trick inside 20 minutes and standout performances across the pitch, including a towering display from full-back Tony Mahony.
That result followed a flawless Tier 2 group stage where Laois saw off Kerry, Carlow and Kildare to top their group with three wins from three.
Wexford, meanwhile, enter the fray after finishing third in Tier 1. They picked up a vital win over Dublin in Round 2 and will be hoping that their exposure to the province’s top teams, including Kilkenny and Galway, will stand to them in knockout action.
This is the biggest challenge yet for Laois, but with confidence sky-high and home advantage on their side, they’ll be hoping to continue their impressive form and take one more step toward provincial glory.
Throw-in is at 12pm on Saturday, May 10, at Laois Hire O’Moore Park. The Leinster Express/ Laois Live will be providing a live blog from the game.
