Laois County Council have opted to widen a bridge following repeated damage caused by lorries.
Fiann Fáil Cllr Seamus McDonald tabled a motion for the repair of the bridge at Glendine Lane, Camross, following concerns raised by residents of the area.
"The sooner this is seen to, the better," Cllr McDonald said.
"It is really dangerous and I'm very concerned for people living here. Cllr Kelly is aware of this also," he said.

Independent Cllr James Kelly supported this motion, having also been contacted on this issue by members of the public.
"We both have been contacted about this bridge, there are heavy goods vehicles in the area, and that's the nature of the business," Cllr Kelly said.
"There is a quarry out there too."
Senior Executive Engineer with Laois County Council, Mr Rory O'Callaghan, confirmed that Laois County Council will make repairs to the bridge.
"This bridge has been repaired several times," Mr O'Callaghan said.
"This bridge is too narrow and is being damaged by timber lorries. This bridge needs to be widened. An application to widen and repair the bridge will be prepared and submitted to the Department for 2026 funding," he said.
Cllr McDonald and Cllr Kelly welcomed this news, with Cllr Kelly enquiring as to what specifications are in place for the widening of the bridge.

"Would you have any idea on what the works will include, how wide will the bridge be made?" Cllr Kelly asked.
Mr O'Callaghan replied that the Council have yet to survey the bridge, and that they hope to make it two lanes.
"We hope to do this so that a timber truck and a car can pass at the same time," Mr O'Callaghan said.
This motion was tabled at the May sitting of Laois County Council's Borris-in-Ossory / Mountmellick Municipal District.
